Terms of service

Terms of Service

Welcome to Fold & Finch. We're a small handmade homewares studio based in the Scottish Borders. These terms cover your use of our website and anything you buy from us. "We", "us" and "our" mean Fold & Finch; "you" means you, our customer. Our shop runs on Shopify.

By using our site or placing an order, you agree to these terms and to our [Privacy Policy]. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.

1. Ordering

When you place an order you're making an offer to buy. We'll send an email confirming we've received it, but a contract between us only exists once we email to say your order has been accepted and dispatched. We may decline or cancel an order — for example if an item is out of stock, mispriced, or we can't take payment — and if we do, we'll refund anything you've paid.

Because much of what we make is handmade or made to order, please check your order carefully before you place it, as we may not be able to change or cancel it once it's under way.

2. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and shown on the product page. We may change prices at any time, but the price you pay is the one shown when you order. Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout. Payment is taken securely through Shopify at the point of ordering.

3. Our products

Everything is made by hand or in small batches, so slight variations in colour, pattern placement and finish are part of the character rather than a fault — no two are ever identical. Screens vary too, so colours may look a little different in person. That said, if something arrives genuinely faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality, you're fully covered — see section 5.

4. Delivery and your right to cancel

We'll give an estimated dispatch and delivery time, but these are estimates, not guarantees, and we're not responsible for delays once a parcel is with the carrier.

As you're buying at a distance, you have the right to cancel most orders within 14 days of receiving them under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and to return the items for a refund. Full details, including the few exceptions (such as bespoke or personalised pieces made specifically for you), are in our [Refund & Returns Policy].

5. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other UK consumer law. Goods we sell must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, and if they're not, you're entitled to a repair, replacement or refund as the law provides.

6. Our liability

We don't limit or exclude our liability for anything that can't be limited by law — including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer. Subject to that, we're not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses arising from your use of the site or products.

7. Intellectual property

Our designs, patterns, photographs, text, logo and the Fold & Finch name belong to us. Please don't copy, reproduce or resell them without our written permission. Products are sold for personal use, not for commercial resale.

8. Acceptable use

Please use our site lawfully and don't attempt to damage it, disrupt it, or misuse it — including introducing malicious code or trying to gain unauthorised access.

9. Third-party links

Our site may link to other websites we don't control. We're not responsible for their content or their practices, so do check their own terms before using them.

10. Shopify

Fold & Finch is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide our online shop. Any sale you make is directly with us, not with Shopify, and Shopify isn't responsible for the products or the transaction between us.

11. Changes, governing law and contact

We may update these terms from time to time; the current version always lives on this page. These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
